The Engagement (2022)
The Engagement showcases Max’s quirky humor, jazz-inflected atmosphere, and signature black-and-white cinematography. Told entirely without dialogue, the film follows two strangers who arrive at a restaurant for separate dates and discover their dates won’t be joining them. Through quiet gestures and shared space, an unexpected connection begins to form.

BIO

Maximus Zevon-Powell was born with a quirky, imaginative streak. Raised in rural Vermont, he shot his first film at the age of 8, then went on to enter film competitions throughout his teenage years. He won awards for his Cinematography and Most Original Screenplay.
He attended Purchase Film Conservatory. His films have been screened at Middlebury New Filmmakers Film Festival for three years running, as well as at Lincoln Center in NYC by Onward and Upward Productions and Purchase Film. He is currently working on a film featuring Code Pink activist, Medea Benjamin.
Max’s films embody his unique and particular style, sense of humor and way of seeing the world while telling a story layered with innuendo and meaning.
